There are many needs to be addressed.

Initially we need to firmly establish this ministry.

Vehicle

The area in which we will be working has very few roads,

and the ones that exist are in very poor condition at best.  The vehicle we currently have is a 1997 Land Rover.  This particular vehicle has had numerous breakdowns, spare parts are difficult to find and expensive, and it is not suited to the rough terrain where we work.

We need a Toyota Land Cruiser.  Even an older model.  Parts are available and less expensive and mechanics are used to working on them.  Most all of the safari companies use this type of vehicle.  They just hold up to the rough conditions.  An older 1990 model sells for about $8,000.00

School 

The elders of the local village have asked for a school for their children.

This school has already started with 1 teacher and about 

150 primary students under a tree in the mornings. 

They have no books, no pencils, no paper and no

curriculum. They do make up for this lack with

their enthusiasm.  I have contacted a builder, and we could build a shelter for these students which could be finished at a later date, for around $10,000.00.  These kids have never been to school!!  I am working with the elders of the village to share the cost in this project.  It won't be much, but they will have ownership.

How much does it cost to build a school?

Orphanage 

 I know that there are 22 true orphans in Mtakuja village.

This is just one village in the region.

I will discuss these orphans with the village elders.

We believe orphanages staffed with widows from the villages to raise

the children in a family setting are needed.

I believe that God has called Jannice and me to Tanzania for the children.

They are the key to the future. For Tanzania, for the Maasai tribe,

for their villages and for themselves.   

The need is great.

These villagers are our neighbors.
