The River of God Ministries

John 7:37-38 Jesus stood and cried, saying, "If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."

Our Mission and Our Vision

The River of God Ministries was established as an organization

to help alleviate the burden of extreme poverty among

the Maasai tribes of Northern Tanzania.

Our mission and vision are to achieve the following:

Build Orphanages

Our goal is to build enough orphanages to house every orphan in a family-like setting. There are approximately 200 orphans in the local villages of the Maasai.  A child without one parent is considered an orphan.  A true orphan is one with no parents.  The villages try to absorb the children with no parents, hoping for a family member to take them in, but it becomes a tremendous hardship for these families.  Poverty, sickness and disease, and HIV/AIDS has exacerbated the orphan population.

Build Schools

In the Maasai villages, there are no schools.  The children of these villages have basically never been educated.  The elders of the local villages are asking us to help build a school to educate their children.  This is a challenge, but it is one that needs to be met.

Create Rural Medical Clinics

Our goal is to start a rural medical clinic where we can begin to provide the most basic of medical needs. HIV/AIDS testing is a big issue, and the availability of anti-viral drugs is non-existent in this area, but we are determined to find a way to help solve this overwhelming problem.

Drill Wells

Water borne disease from dirty water, polluted with parasites and bacteria is the normal way of life in this area. There is now one fresh water well in this area, and for the first time ever, the Maasai have clean drinking water. They come from miles around to wait in line for their 5-gallon bucket of clean water. Understanding the problem of water borne diseases comes with education and having clean water to drink isn’t enough. The more we educate about what keeps us healthy the better the Maasai will be equipped to change their own lives without dependency on someone else. This one well, won’t be enough.  We believe all the people of Tanzania should have clean water to drink.  Watching them dip filthy water into a bucket out of a stagnant pool is very difficult, but water is necessary for life.

Introduce Agriculture

This land is a desert, but if you add water, anything will grow.  We showed them how to hand-dig a 30ft. well, and capture the surface water.  This is for irrigation. We have drip irrigation programs to introduce, where they will be able to grow enough vegetables to sustain themselves and have some excess to sell. In the past the Maasai have been nomadic heldsmen, they have realized that they have to change their way of life to survive. This is not easy for any people and culture to face about themselves, but their way of life is dying, and they must adapt in order to survive. If we show them how to plant grass for grazing, the cattle won’t have to be taken so far away to graze.

Raise the Economic Level

Everything we do to help the Maasai raise their physical standard of living without changing their culture, we hope will eventually raise their economic level of living. That would include fresh clean water for drinking and cooking, medical clinics to help their overall health, schools to educate their children and give them hope for their future, and agriculture to provide jobs, income, and healthy food. There is, however, no industry in this area. We are constantly on the lookout for micro-finance industry projects.

Share the Gospel

Everywhere we go we share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We go because the Lord is sending us and it is in our hearts to share Jesus with everyone.
